Reopening! Whooooooo
….ANNDD, the time has come, we are finally able to open our doors once again! This is all down the support of our loyal customers shopping local through our click & collect service, so from everyone at MGR we want to say a HUGE thank you!
It is great how excited you are to come back and shop with us, we can’t wait to see you too! But with all these new rules and ways of shopping being introduced, we know a lot of you have many questions about how things will be in the shop! We want to ensure all of our customers are able to shop confidently and safely, knowing that we are taking all steps to keep you safe.

What steps are you taking to become COVID Secure? —- Our staff will all be wearing PPE visors and gloves, which will be changed between each customer and hands are being washed and sanitised regularly throughout the day. We will continually be sanitising regular touch points, shopping baskets (oh yes… we’ve introduced brand new baskets to make it easier for customers to shop, allowing their hands to be free!), till desk, till and card reader.
What will be available to buy? Is there limited stock? — Our team has been hard at work for the past month and have managed to do a full seasonal change over so there is loads to shop from clothing, toys to furniture! We are still your fave one stop shop, come and see what new bargains we have for you to find!
What social distancing is in place, it 2m or 1m ? — In Scotland the social distancing measures are still 2 metres. It is only in England that it has been allowed to reduce so please follow any markings in place at the shop and listen to any instructions from our friendly team… but with less people in the shop at any time this spacing will be super easy to maintain! Customers will be asked to wait at a 2m distanced marker after placing their shopping basket on the till desk. When you step forward to come close to the till desk the MGR team member will step back to allow 2m distancing. There will be no passing of shopping directly to or from customers and the Merry go round team.
What payment methods are accepted, are we taking cash? — Contactless payment is preferred. We know this might not be the most convenient for some people but cash is one of the biggest ways to germs to travel, contactless includes cards and apple/android pay…this is just one way we can work together to protect our local community!
How to book and how long is the slot? — Slots can be book via our online shop under in store bookable slots or by clicking here. Each slot will be 30 mins long so plenty of time to browse and get the most from your MGR fix, we expect there will be lots of little wardrobes needing replenished!
Are we open on less days? — We will be operating with shorter days to start off with to allow us to keep click & collect and donation drop offs running while we have bookable slots open as well as ensuring that we adhere to covid related precautionary measures. However we will continually be updating new available slots to accommodate more of you to come and shop.
Is there a limited number of people that can come in per slot for example can customers come with friends/ family? — There will be 2 slots available per time slot. Allowing 2 people to attend 1 time slot (not counting little ones in prams), therefore the total number of customers within the shop should not exceed 4 people.

All of the above is what will be in place as we begin our reopening but of course, if we find that we have the capacity to be able to offer more bookable slots we will release more times so keep an eye out on our website and socials!
Donation drop offs and click and collect will also be running so if you’ve bought something online and your collecting on a specific day it might be an idea to either book your shopping slot at the same time or ask for your collection slot to be rearranged to try coincide the two slots.
