Merry-go-round is a community venture that couldn’t run without the support of our amazing volunteers.
Volunteering with Merry-go-round is a great way to be part of something rewarding that makes a difference in the local community and beyond. Our volunteers support the staff team to get donations out onto the shop floor and also redistributed to families via our Carousel programme.
We offer opportunities in both our shop and sorting hub which are based in the Southside of Glasgow. We currently have around 20 regular volunteers covering a variety of roles such as sorting our donations, making up our beautiful carousel packs, PAT and function testing our electricals, helping in our shop and delivering stock and packs to our partnering agencies. As well as regular volunteers we host corporate and other large groups for one off events too.
Current volunteering opportunities
Our retail team volunteers lend a hand in our boutique style shop. Here they assist with quality and safety checking all of the non textile donations such as books, toys and baby equipment. This role involves making sure that our products are safe, clean and of good quality before being displayed in the shop for sale. This is an opportunity to hang out with our friendly shop team, whilst also gaining retail experience by helping customers on the shop floor.

Van Driver Volunteer
We are looking for an amazing volunteer driver to join our team. Do you want to make a difference and spread smiles as you drive around town? Hop in and take the wheel of our vibrant, bright van! Our van drivers are essential to helping us make our community a better place. Whether it's delivering essential supplies, transporting stock between our sorting hubs, or simply brightening someone's day with a friendly hello, your dedication can have a huge impact. Our team of donations volunteers carry out quality control checks before sizing and sorting them into our Merry-go-round categories. Our sorting hub is where all the behind the scenes prep happens with our textile donations. This role provides the opportunity to meet new likeminded people who care about the environment and enjoy being around others.

Our beautiful carousel packs are prepared in the Merry-go-round hub. This role involves selecting stock and packaging items into our special Carousel bags. It is a rewarding activity as you prepare the free packs that are given to families on low income. Working as part of a team you will meet lots of people whilst helping others.

As an E-commerce Volunteer, you'll play a crucial role in supporting Merry-go-round, you will help keep our eBay shop fully stocked alongside our eCommerce assistant
