These are some initiatives that local business are taking to reduce the impact of waste in the Southside of Glasgow while bettering the community. 

Maybe you haven’t got round to fixing the plastic toy or don’t know what the problem is - why not see if Remade in Govanhill can fix it? Remade is a social enterprise focused on building a repair economy, they reduce waste by fixing things whilst giving back to the local community through providing jobs and ongoing projects. 

 Remade offers a variety of services, their daily repair stop is a handy service which can fix essential tech, electrical and textile times. Their Tech Drop accepts donations of unwanted phones, laptops and computers and the team do their best to bring these gadgets back to life, if that isn’t possible they process them for WEEE recycling. Additionally, their Desktop Distribution Project is allowing more people to gain access to the internet to prevent online isolation, by offering refurbished donated devises, enabling the local community to stay connected.   https://remade.network/

Rags to Riches is an award-winning up-cycling social enterprise that uses waste to promote environmental sustainability, community engagement and education within Glasgow and the surrounding areas. Glasgow and the surrounding areas. They employ the circular economy model to provide workshops within their own venues as well as providing outreach programmes to outside organisations to upskill, train and empower local groups and support vulnerable communities. They also sell a range of handcrafted upcycled design collections on their online shop to create economic opportunities for local makers while actively reducing and reusing waste.
